What our students say

"Passed my Class 1 first time thanks to the team. The in-house 3a yard makes such a difference — you're tested on the exact spot you trained on. Straight-talking instructors, no messing about, great value for money."

Craig M.

Class 1 passed · Kirkcaldy · March 2026

"First class training from start to finish. Went from full car licence to driving artics in a matter of weeks. The instructors have decades of real haulage experience and it shows."

Steven R.

Class 2 passed · Fife · February 2026

"Highly recommend. I was nervous about the size of the coach but they built my confidence session by session. Passed my Category D and CPC — thanks so much!"

Amanda T.

PCV / Coach passed · Perth · January 2026

"Best CPC day I've done in 25 years of driving. Actually relevant to the job, no waffle, no time-filling. Booked in for the rest of my 35 hours already."

Paul D.

CPC Periodic · Livingston · December 2025

"Needed C1 for horse-box work. The team fitted the training around my weekend availability and I passed first time. Genuinely lovely people who care about their students."

Rachael S.

C1 7.5t passed · Kinross · November 2025

"Upgraded from Class 2 to Class 1. The finance option through Ideal4Finance made it doable — £79/month is nothing when you're earning £45k as a Class 1 driver. Thanks lads."

David L.

Class 1 upgrade · Falkirk · October 2025

"Came to them just for the 3a after failing it twice elsewhere. Nailed it in two sessions with their examiner. The yard is exactly what you need."

Ian McK.

Category 3a · Bishopbriggs · September 2025

"Church wanted me D1-qualified for the youth minibus. Professional service, patient teaching, and the DVSA test was booked quickly. Cannot recommend highly enough."

Susan H.

Minibus D1 · Kirkcaldy · August 2025

"Travelled from Dundee for the training and it was 100% worth it. Genuine 5-star operators, honest pricing, and I was in a paid HGV job the week after passing."

Callum W.

Class 2 passed · Dundee · July 2025

How to judge an HGV training school before you pay a deposit

Why reviews matter more in this industry than most

HGV training is one of the largest single purchases most drivers make outside a car or a house deposit, and it is bought once, usually with no prior experience of what good looks like. There is no second attempt at spending the money. That asymmetry is exactly why independent reviews carry so much weight here — they are the only view you get of what actually happens after the deposit clears.

Our Google rating sits at 5.0 from 201 reviews, and we would rather point you at those than at our own marketing copy. Read the detail rather than the star count: the useful reviews are the ones that describe the instructor by name, mention how nerves were handled, or explain what happened when someone needed an extra day.

Be equally sceptical of a wall of one-line five-star reviews with no detail. Volume plus specificity is the combination worth trusting, on any provider's listing including ours.

The questions worth asking any provider

Ask what the price includes and what it does not. A quoted course fee that excludes the DVSA test fee, the retest fee, the medical or the CPC modules is not really a quote. Ask for the total cost to a licence in your hand, itemised.

Ask about the vehicle and the yard. Will you train on the same vehicle you sit the test in? Is the off-road manoeuvring area laid out to the DVSA specification, or is it a corner of a car park? We train and test on our own yard at the Michelston Business Centre in Kirkcaldy, on our own fleet of ten HGVs, two coaches and a minibus.

Ask about test waiting times, and listen carefully to the answer. Because our lead instructor is a Delegated DVSA Examiner, we conduct Category 3a and Module 4 tests in-house, which routinely removes weeks of waiting compared with going through a DVSA vocational centre. Finally, ask what happens if you are not ready — a school that only offers a fixed package and a fixed test date is managing its diary, not your pass.

What our students consistently mention

Three themes come up again and again in our feedback. The first is patience — a lot of our trainees are career changers who have not sat a driving test in twenty years, and the thing they thank instructors for is being unhurried. The second is honesty about readiness, including telling people when they need another day rather than taking the test fee anyway.

The third is what happens afterwards. Because we also run a driver agency, we can point newly-qualified drivers at operators around Fife, Perth, Falkirk, Livingston and Dundee who are willing to take on new passes — which is the single biggest obstacle between a licence and a wage.

If you have trained with us, leaving a review genuinely helps the next person weighing up thousands of pounds and a career change. It takes two minutes and it is the most useful thing you can do for the driver who is where you were six months ago.
